In May 2026, the Instructure breach removed the Canvas recovery path that many compliance teams quietly relied on. Overnight, “we can get it back from the vendor” stopped being a plan.

Retenta is built by someone who spends their working life in backup and disaster recovery, for the people who own the audit when the courses can’t be recovered: RTO compliance managers, Canvas administrators, and directors of digital learning. The hard part of compliance was never taking a backup. It was proving the backup actually restores.
